Rates & Policies:
I only accept transceivers from properly licensed amateurs with valid call-signs.
I offer my services to end-users within the contiguous United States only.
Rates:
I charge $48 per hour, prorated. Cost of parts, tax (if applicable), and cost of return shipment are additional.
I only charge for actual work done. I do not charge for research, parts-ordering time, telephone time, email contact, or "head scratching" time.
Although rare, a deposit may be required for expensive parts that need to be ordered.
Estimates:
I charge $24 to $48 for an estimate, depending on the complexity of the unit in question. This fee is waived if you decide to have the equipment repaired. Please note: It is impossible for every estimate to be completely accurate. Sometimes, there can be other problems uncovered that were not readily apparent before repairs began.
If I determine a unit's condition has been misrepresented, whether intentional or not, I may deny services and return the unit at the customer's expense.
Turn-around time:
Turn-around time is usually one week or less. But sometimes more time is needed, if there are intermittent or unusual problems, or special parts need to be ordered.
Warranty:
My work is warranted for a period of 30 days. This warranty applies to the actual repair only. If my workmanship should fail, I will make it right. No other warranty is assumed or implied. If an unrelated problem should arise during the warranty period, new repair charges may be applied, at my discretion.
Communication:
This is an internet-based business.
Email is the primary and preferred method of contact.
I do not conduct business by phone, fax, or mail.
Phone consultation is available to established customers only.
Shipping:
Prior authorization is required before shipping your equipment to me.
All incoming shipments are done on an appointment basis.
I only accept shipments from the contiguous U.S.
All return shipments are via UPS Ground, using my account.
Payment:
Payments, including credit cards, are processed exclusively on-line, via PayPal or Google Checkout.
I do not accept checks, money orders, or cash.
Modifications:
Out-of-band modifications are done only for legitimate purposes, such as MARS and the 60-meter band.
I will not do "PIN diode" or "Schottky diode" modifications, nor will I increase transmitter output beyond manufacturer's specifications.
Sales:
I do not sell new or used gear, nor do I sell parts or manuals.
No third-party transactions:
I will not transact through a third-party. If your buddy has no internet access, frankly, we can't do business.
This is the 21st century. Internet access is practically a necessity. And in my opinion, someone in such a technical hobby as ham radio should also be able to own and operate a computer.
No third-party shipments:
If you purchase equipment that needs servicing, I will not accept shipment from the seller. The equipment must be in your hands first, so you see what condition it is in. Then you may make arrangements to ship to me.
If you decide to sell your equipment before or during repairs, I will only ship it back to you, not the buyer. And my invoice and warranty will be in your name only.
No dealers/resellers:
I offer my services to end-users only. I do not offer my services to "dealers", whether it is an official dealership or an individual that resells for profit.
