7 steps to sending your equipment in for service:

Amateur (Ham) Radio Repair

1

First, be reasonably sure your rig actually needs repair. Make sure the problem doesn’t lie elsewhere, such as antenna, feed-line, power supply, cables, microphone, etc.

To rule out antenna, feed-line or RF-feedback issues, test the rig on a dummy load. Every ham should have a dummy load!

2

Be reasonably sure your rig is worth repairing. I'm generally not interested in restoration projects, or inheriting someone's botched repair attempt.

3

Check my Repair List to see if I service your particular rig or not.

4

Review my Policies and Shipping pages to be sure you are in agreement.

5

Email your request to mike@n1eq.com. Enter the model number and your callsign in the subject line, and describe the problem(s).

I strive to answer all reasonable requests within a few business days.

6

If I agree to accept your equipment for repair, I will authorize a specific time frame for delivery. This is usually within a week, but not always, depending on my current workload.

7

After you’ve received authorization to ship, please be sure your equipment is properly packaged (see Shipping instructions), and ship so it'll be delivered to me during the time frame provided.

If you cannot follow through, please have the courtesy of letting me know.
